MatRecruit Terms of Service
Effective date: 2026-06-17 Last updated: 2026-06-17
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of MatRecruit, including the website at matrecruit.org and matrecruit.com, the recruiting profile builder, the public profile page, the private recruiting tracker, the AI recruiting assistant, and any other services we provide (together, the "Service"). MatRecruit is operated by Matside Wrestling Co. ("Matside," "we," "us," or "our").
By creating a MatRecruit account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. If you are using the Service on behalf of a wrestler who is your child, you also agree to these Terms on the wrestler's behalf and confirm that you have authority to do so.
Our Privacy Policy and Children's Privacy Policy describe how we handle information. Our Support Policy describes how to reach us and what to expect when you do. Those policies are part of these Terms.
If you have questions about these Terms, contact us at support@matside.org.
1. Who can use MatRecruit
MatRecruit is intended for high-school wrestlers in an active recruiting window. To create an account you must:
- Confirm a graduation year inside MatRecruit's accepted recruiting window (currently the current calendar year minus two through the current calendar year plus four, which covers grades 9 through 12 plus graduation year plus gray-shirt and JUCO timing); and
- Be at least 13 years old.
Wrestlers under 13 are not permitted to use MatRecruit. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13 we will close the account and delete the data as described in our Children's Privacy Policy.
Coaches, scouts, family members, and other adults are welcome to view a wrestler's public profile page without an account. We do not offer separate coach accounts at this time.
2. Your account
You are responsible for your MatRecruit account, including the email address on file and any actions taken through the account. Keep your sign-in email secure. If you believe someone else has accessed your account, contact us at support@matside.org so we can help.
Sign-in is by emailed magic link or Google sign-in. There is no MatRecruit password to remember. Do not share your magic-link email with anyone you don't want signing in as you.
You may have only one MatRecruit account. We may close duplicate accounts.
3. Acceptable use
When you use MatRecruit, you agree not to:
- Misrepresent yourself or anyone else, including by listing accolades, schools, coaches, or videos that aren't truthfully yours;
- Upload content you don't have the right to upload, including photos, videos, or coach contact information you don't have permission to share;
- Use MatRecruit to harass, threaten, or harm any person, including coaches you list or other wrestlers;
- Attempt to access another wrestler's account, profile drafts, private tracker, or any data not intended for you;
- Scrape, crawl, or systematically copy MatRecruit content except as permitted by our
robots.txt; - Probe, test, or interfere with the security or normal operation of the Service;
- Use MatRecruit to send spam, chain communications, or commercial solicitations unrelated to your own recruiting;
- Use MatRecruit in a way that violates any law that applies to you, including U.S. export control and sanctions law;
- Use the AI recruiting assistant to seek medical, legal, eligibility, or NIL advice — the assistant is not a substitute for talking to a doctor, a lawyer, a compliance officer, or a coach you trust.
We may suspend or terminate accounts for any of the above. We may also remove content that violates these Terms or that we believe in good faith poses a risk to a wrestler, a coach, or the Service.
4. Your public profile page
When you publish your profile, MatRecruit creates a public URL at matrecruit.org/p/<your-profile-slug> that anyone on the public internet can view. You choose what to put on it. You choose when it goes live. You can unpublish at any time from your dashboard.
You are responsible for the content of your published profile, including any coach names and contact information you list (see §3 above). The Service's role is to render what you publish; it doesn't independently verify the accuracy of accolades, schedule entries, or other facts you provide.
5. Your private recruiting tracker
The recruiting tracker lets you record the college programs you're contacting, status of outreach, contact dates, and your own notes. The tracker is private to your account. Other wrestlers cannot see it, college coaches cannot see it, and it is not surfaced anywhere on the public internet. The technical controls behind this are described in §7 of the Privacy Policy.
The tracker is provided as planning support. It does not constitute a recruiting service, a placement service, or advice on which programs you should target.
6. AI recruiting assistant
MatRecruit's dashboard includes an AI recruiting assistant that generates personalized suggestions ("next steps") based on your profile and a curated wrestling-recruiting knowledge base. The assistant is informational only. It is not advice from a coach, a recruiting service, an attorney, a compliance officer, or a medical professional, and you should not rely on it as if it were.
Suggestions are generated by a third-party large language model (currently Anthropic's Claude) using prompts that include information from your profile. We apply guardrails to keep suggestions grounded in our knowledge base, and we keep a kill-switch and per-user usage caps to manage costs and behavior. You may see suggestions that are wrong, out of date, or inappropriate; if you do, please email support@matside.org so we can investigate.
We may change, limit, or remove AI features at any time without notice. The presence of an AI feature today does not entitle you to it tomorrow.
7. Subscriptions, trials, and payment
Pricing. MatRecruit is offered as a paid subscription. Current pricing is $9.99 per month or $99 per year, billed in advance through Stripe. Yearly subscribers receive roughly the equivalent of two months free relative to monthly. We may offer promotional codes, club bundles, or other pricing from time to time; the price you see at checkout is the price you will be charged.
Free trial. New accounts receive a 7-day free trial of the full paid experience, with no credit card required to start. When the trial ends, paid features stop working until you start a subscription. Your profile data is preserved; you can come back later and pick up where you left off.
Billing and auto-renewal. When you start a paid subscription, you authorize us (through Stripe) to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly or yearly basis until you cancel. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price. We will notify you in advance of material price changes.
Cancellation. You can cancel at any time from your account. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not refund the current billing period. After cancellation you keep access to paid features through the end of the period you already paid for. Until our Stripe Customer Portal integration is enabled, you can cancel by emailing support@matside.org.
Refunds. We evaluate refund requests case by case. We are most likely to issue a refund when you cancel within a short time after a renewal you didn't intend, when an outage or defect blocked you from using a paid feature, or in other circumstances where keeping the payment would be clearly unfair. We are unlikely to issue a refund when you've actively used paid features for the period in question, when the request is well after a renewal, or when the request appears to be part of a pattern of abuse. To request a refund, email support@matside.org with your account email and the charge you're asking about.
Failed payments. If a renewal payment fails, we will retry through Stripe's standard retry schedule. If retries fail, your subscription will move to a past-due status and paid features will become unavailable until you update your payment method.
Taxes. Prices shown are exclusive of any sales or use tax that may apply to you. Where required, Stripe will calculate and collect applicable tax at checkout.
Promotion codes. Promotion codes are issued at our discretion and may be limited to a specific user, a specific period, or a specific tier. We may revoke promotion codes if we believe they are being misused.
8. Clubs and group subscriptions
We currently offer club seat pricing at $59 per seat per year for clubs purchasing five or more seats. Club purchases are handled by emailing support@matside.org to set up the seat count and a Stripe promotion code. There is no self-service club admin tool in V1. Club purchases are governed by these Terms; the club is responsible for ensuring that wrestlers using seats agree to these Terms.
9. Content you provide; license you grant us
You retain ownership of the content you provide to MatRecruit — your photos, your accolades, your highlight links, your tracker entries, your notes, and other information you upload or type into the Service.
To operate the Service, you grant Matside Wrestling Co. a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, modify (to the extent needed to render and format the content), publicly display, and publicly perform the content for the purpose of providing the Service to you — including rendering your public profile page at matrecruit.org/p/<your-slug> when you publish it, producing per-profile link-preview images when your URL is shared, generating AI recommendations from your profile state, and serving the Service via our hosting providers.
This license ends with respect to a piece of content when you delete that content from the Service. Cached copies (including search-engine cache, social-media link-preview cache, and our own short-lived caches) may persist for a while after deletion; we are not responsible for third-party caches we don't control.
You confirm that you have the right to upload everything you upload. In particular, you confirm that any coach name, coach email, or coach phone number you list on a published profile is information you have permission to publish.
10. Our intellectual property
The MatRecruit Service — including the software, design, layout, brand marks, wordmarks, logos, the wrestling-recruiting playbook authored by Matside, the curated knowledge base, the curated 616-program school pool, the proprietary structure of the profile and tracker, and any related documentation — belongs to Matside Wrestling Co. or our licensors. These Terms don't grant you a license to copy, redistribute, modify, reverse-engineer, or build a derivative service from any of that.
You may share your own public profile URL freely. That doesn't grant any additional rights to the rest of the Service.
11. Third-party services and links
MatRecruit relies on third-party services to operate, including Supabase, Vercel, Sentry, Resend, Stripe, Google (for optional sign-in), YouTube (for highlight playback), and Anthropic (for the AI recruiting assistant). Each of those services has its own terms and privacy policies. Your use of those services through MatRecruit is also subject to their terms.
The Service may contain links to third-party sites — for example, college program websites, NCAA resources, or other recruiting tools. We are not responsible for the content or practices of any third-party site.
12. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, Matside disclaims all warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, and uninterrupted operation.
In particular, we do not promise that:
- The Service will be available at any specific time;
- Your published profile will result in interest from any specific program, any specific coach, or any specific scholarship offer;
- AI recommendations will be accurate, complete, current, or appropriate for your situation;
- Coach contact information surfaced by autofill or the curated school pool is current;
- Any specific feature will be available indefinitely.
You use the Service for recruiting planning, not as a guarantee of recruiting outcomes.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Matside Wrestling Co., its members, employees, contractors, and service providers will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service, including lost recruiting opportunities, lost scholarship offers, lost data, or reputational harm.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claims arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, and (b) one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow the disclaimers or limitations above to the extent stated. In those jurisdictions, the disclaimers and limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law in that jurisdiction.
14. Indemnification
You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Matside Wrestling Co. and its members, employees, contractors, and service providers from and against any third-party claim, demand, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or related to (a) your use of the Service, (b) content you provide to the Service, (c) coach information you publish without permission, or (d) your violation of these Terms or applicable law.
We will give you reasonable notice of any claim covered by this section. You will not settle any claim covered by this section in a way that imposes any obligation on us without our prior written consent.
15. Suspension and termination
You can stop using MatRecruit at any time. To delete your account, email support@matside.org with the email address associated with your account. We will confirm the request and delete your account record and the associated profile, accolades, coach entries, schedule, highlights, social links, and tracker entries on the schedule described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms, if your use poses a risk to other users or to the Service, or if we are required to do so by law. We may discontinue the Service in whole or in part at any time, and we will give reasonable notice before doing so when feasible.
If your subscription is active when we suspend or terminate your account, refunds (if any) will be evaluated under §7. The provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including §9 (license you grant us, for cached/displayed-as-of-termination content), §10, §12, §13, §14, §16, and §17 — survive.
16. Governing law and venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. The federal and state courts located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service that is not resolved by the dispute-resolution process in §17, and you and Matside both consent to that jurisdiction and waive any objection to it on grounds of inconvenient forum.
17. Dispute resolution
If you have a dispute with us, please email support@matside.org first and describe the issue. We will work in good faith to resolve the dispute informally. Many disputes can be resolved without anyone going to court.
If we are not able to resolve the dispute within thirty (30) days after you contact us, either party may bring the matter to the courts described in §16. This informal-resolution step is a precondition to filing any legal action arising out of these Terms.
You and Matside each agree that any dispute will be brought in your individual capacity and not as a class action, collective action, or representative action.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Effective date" and "Last updated" lines at the top of this document. Material changes will be summarized in-product or sent by email to the address associated with your account.
Your continued use of the Service after the Effective date of an update means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not accept the update, stop using the Service and email support@matside.org to close your account.
19. Miscellaneous
Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Children's Privacy Policy, and Support Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and Matside Wrestling Co. regarding the Service. They replace any prior agreements.
Severability. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the Terms remain in force.
No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision of these Terms is not a waiver of our right to enforce it later.
Assignment. You may not assign these Terms or your account to anyone else without our written permission. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, on reasonable notice to you.
No agency. Nothing in these Terms creates any partnership, joint venture, agency, or employment relationship between you and Matside Wrestling Co.
Headings. Section headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
